Your first visit
Your first visit is eighty minutes.
That is not a typo, and it is not padded with paperwork. I ask a lot of questions, watch how you move, and examine the area properly — including the parts that don't hurt, because that is often where the answer is. Most of the time we start treatment the same visit. You will leave knowing what I think is going on and what I would like to do about it.
How long it takes
Eighty minutes with me — roughly double what most clinics book for a first assessment. Visits after that are shorter, and how long you need is something we decide together at the end of each one.
There is a gap after every appointment. It is why I run on time, and why nobody gets hurried out to make room for the next person.
What happens, step by step
I'll ask you a lot of questions first — when it started, what makes it better or worse, what you have already tried, and what you have stopped doing because of it. Then I watch how you move, and examine the area properly, including the joints above and below it.
At the end I'll tell you what I think is going on, in plain terms, and what I'd like to do about it. If I'm not sure, I'll say that too.
Whether treatment starts the same day
Usually, yes. In eighty minutes there is nearly always enough left to begin, and I would rather you left having had something done. Occasionally I'd prefer to wait — if I want imaging first, or a word with your family doctor — and I'll explain why.
What to wear
Ordinary clothes you can move in. Nothing that restricts your hips or shoulders, and shoes you can slip off easily. You won't be asked to change into a gown.
What to bring
Your insurance details if you have coverage, a list of any medication you take, and any imaging reports you already have. If you have a pair of shoes you wear all day, bring those — they tell me a lot.
What it costs, and direct billing
A first visit is $125. Visits after that run from $55 for twenty minutes to $145 for seventy-five. Custom orthotics are $450, including the casting appointment.
I can bill most extended health plans directly, so you usually pay only the part your plan doesn't cover. Full fees and insurers.
What happens after
I'll usually suggest a few visits close together, then we reassess. If it's working we taper off. If it isn't, we change approach or I refer you on. I don't sell packages and I don't book you in for three months.
If you're not sure what to book
Call me on 905.492.4470. I answer my own phone. I'd rather spend two minutes with you now than have you book the wrong thing — or not book at all because you weren't sure.
I keep a small practice on purpose, so appointments are limited and I see the same people over time. If nothing suits, call or message me — I keep a little room for people who need to be seen sooner.
